Original 1822 hand-colored stipple engraving of Blaise Pascal (1623–1662), one of history’s greatest minds. A French mathematician, physicist, theologian, and philosopher, Pascal was instrumental in the development of calculus, the science of fluids, and modern probability theory. He is also widely respected for his literary and religious works, including the Pensées.
