Antique 1826 Engraving of Vitellius Caesar – Roman Emperor

Original 1826 hand-colored stipple engraving of Vitellius Caesar (15–69 AD), who briefly ruled Rome during the chaotic “Year of the Four Emperors.” Vitellius is portrayed in richly detailed Roman armor and emerald-toned cloak, grasping a scepter — a powerful image of fleeting imperial might.
This engraving, created for the Encyclopaedia Londinensis, was drawn by T. Trotter and engraved by T. Page. It forms part of a distinguished neoclassical portrait series of Roman emperors.
