Robert Bertie, 1st Earl of Lindsey (1582-1642).

He was an English peer, naval officer, soldier, and courtier.

The engraving was made by Jacobus Houbraken after a portrait by Cornelius Johnson and was published in 1742.

Bertie served as a military commander during the English Civil War and was killed at the Battle of Edgehill in 1642, fighting for the Royalists.

He also held the hereditary office of Lord Great Chamberlain of England.
