She was born on December 12, 1574, and died on March 2, 1619, at the age of 44.
Anne of Denmark was the daughter of King Frederick II of Denmark and Norway and married James in 1589.
Despite having little direct political influence, her extravagant spending habits contributed to the financial challenges faced by James's reign.
She was a significant patron of the arts, especially the masque, and her patronage played a role in the development of court entertainments during her time.
The portrait was created in 1755.
