This portrait was published in London on April 23rd, 1806 by J. Wilkes and engraved by J. Chapman as part of a distinguished series of intellectual and cultural luminaries.
Corneille is shown with long curls, lace collar, and scholarly attire, his gaze direct and self-assured—befitting the author of Le Cid, Horace, and Cinna.
